TheraOffice Staff: Meet Tony Vlahovic - Netsmart

By Ada Gudex, Senior Director and GM, TheraOffice

Assessing software functionality, identifying and resolving end-user problems, understanding client needs, developing new features, planning, designing, and coding system upgrades, fixing software errors and bugs, and testing updates are just a few things that software engineers do on a daily basis, and this is equally true at TheraOffice and Netsmart. Software engineers are the people behind the screen. The people that make the digital world go ‘round. The people that end users may not regularly speak with, but without them, would make the programs that run their businesses obsolete.

Luckily, Netsmart’s acquisition of TheraOffice has brought us some of the best software engineers in the business. One in particular from TheraOffice to meet is Tony Vlahovic, Senior Software Engineer and HL7 Specialist, one of the brilliant minds behind the physical therapy EMR software that you know and love. He has been a part of the TheraOffice team for a long, long time; 14 years to be exact! He has had an ever-lasting effect on the success of the software and has played a critical role in its growth and development over the last decade, helping to deliver a high-quality physical therapy EMR experience to a long list of providers.

Tony loves working at TheraOffice because of the people. He knows that the team is a hardworking group of individuals who are committed to the product and helping customers succeed. Furthermore, he believes that the work culture at TheraOffice is one of a kind. Being a part of a team that is welcoming, collaborative, engaging, and customer-centric is what makes coming to work enjoyable, and the transition to operating under Netsmart has not undermined this culture of customer-centricity.

“TheraOffice is special because of our desire to innovate. We are always looking to utilize the most cutting-edge technologies when developing products for TheraOffice and trying to find new ways for therapy companies to better manage their business.”

During Tony’s tenure at TheraOffice, he has been a part of a LOT of new features that have been released over the years. From developing interface options to transitioning from six individual modules to one (our single sign-on version), he has seen a plethora of growth. If he had to pick his favorite feature, he would have to say Online Scheduling! Online Scheduling is a newer feature, released a few short months ago, and can be an extremely powerful tool for any clinic. Tony loves how easy it is to use and encourages clinics to embed the Online Scheduling link directly into their website.

It goes without saying, but Tony is always on the hunt to develop the next, best feature for TheraOffice. His motivation is largely fueled by a Steve Jobs quote: “Stay hungry, stay foolish.” As a developer, Tony is never content. There is always more to do and more to learn. He, along with the rest of the TheraOffice team, embodies this quote daily by pushing forward and having a hunger to consistently achieve big things!

While not at work, Tony has several hobbies that keep him busy which include watching NFL games and finding new Netflix shows to binge! He also enjoys getting in a game of basketball with friends and playing video games with his brother. Perhaps most of all, he likes making sushi with his wife, Nicole, and going on adventures and reading with his daughter, Leah!

Why Rising Acuity is Exposing the Limits of Fragmented Systems

Why Rising Acuity Is Exposing the Limits of Fragmented Systems

Wednesday, May 27 | Post-Acute Care,Care Coordination,Thought Leadership

Something fundamental has shifted in senior living, and most organizations feel it every day. Residents are delaying move-in and ultimately arriving with more complex needs than many communities were designed to support. Residents and their families still want exceptional hospitality and services. Referring providers and partners expect clinical coordination while payers demand outcomes supported by data. And operators are expected to deliver all three at the same time and at scale.

From Cleanup to Clean Claims: Rethinking Eligibility in Post-Acute Care

Thursday, May 21 | Post-Acute Care,Thought Leadership

Eligibility in post-acute care has become a complex and financially impactful challenge in the revenue cycle. What started as a once-a-year administrative task is now a continuous operational pressure point. Yet many organizations are still treating eligibility as something to clean up after issues arise. That approach is becoming difficult to maintain as payer requirements shift, patient coverage changes more frequently and teams are stretched thin. The result isn’t just inefficiency. It’s real financial risk.
