TheraOffice Meet the Staff: Megan Malone

By Ada Gudex, Senior Director and GM, TheraOffice

The acquisition of TheraOffice helped Netsmart gain valuable talent in the EHR implementation space. We’d like to take the time to highlight some of the employees who moved to Netsmart with the acquisition, one of whom is Megan Malone, EHR implementation specialist from TheraOffice.

What comes to mind when you think of onboarding? Perhaps you think of words like newness, orientation, implementation, or transition. Maybe you think of it as a challenge or as a period of excitement as you begin something new. According to Merriam- Webster’s dictionary, onboarding can be defined as “the act or process of familiarizing a new customer with one’s products or services.” Luckily, Netsmart’s onboarding or EHR implementation, team is one of a kind when it comes to ensuring that your clinic’s needs are met and your experience with our product is nothing but positive. Let’s take a look at an EHR implementation specialist who keeps our standards high, ensuring that every EHR implementation goes as smoothly as possible.

Megan Malone, TheraOffice’s Implementation Manager, continuously works to improve the TheraOffice implementation process while keeping the brand experience at the forefront of everything she does. Megan has been a part of the TheraOffice team for five years and has spent four of those years as an EHR implementation specialist. Upon starting a new implementation, she prioritizes getting to know the clinic, their staff, and what is most important to them and their business. She is committed to building a relationship with each client so that they feel extremely comfortable asking questions and getting clarification on certain EHR implementation topics when needed.

Megan has a lot of background in the physical rehabilitation industry, having personally experienced it as a patient. She has experienced two ACL tears: one during her high school basketball career and the other while throwing javelin in college. Coincidentally, when Megan is conducting physical therapy documentation training, her go-to template is the ACL diagnosis, go figure! Megan enjoys taking that experience and using it in the implementation process as it allows her to see things from both the patient’s perspective and the clinic’s perspective.

Megan’s favorite part about her role at TheraOffice is working with start-up clinics! She thoroughly enjoys walking alongside a provider who is committed to opening their own clinic for the very first time. Oftentimes, clinic owners do not realize just how much they are getting into when they dive into opening that first practice, with EHR implementation challenges that far outnumber what was originally anticipated.

“I try to minimize the learning curve as best as I can by not only training on TheraOffice, but also sharing knowledge of the industry. It’s so fulfilling to see past clinics who I worked with as start-ups adding new users or expanding to new locations.”

In her free time, Megan is more than just an EHR implementation specialist. A craft beer connoisseur, she loves checking out new breweries and taste- testing all sorts of good beer. She enjoys trying various brews while traveling too, especially at her favorite vacation spot: Costa Rica! Megan is also a proud dog mom to Rocky, Jett, and Raider. Raider is a police canine and helps keep Rocky and Jett in check!
