5 Ways to Empower DSPs in Recognition of Direct Support Professionals Month

September marks Direct Support Professionals (DSP) Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the highly dedicated workforce who provide support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) with a focus on living independently, while promoting their well-being, dignity and inclusion in the community.

We’re also celebrating the annual Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week on September 8-14, 2024. As a technology provider in the human services space, we know how essential it is to not only acknowledge the hard work of DSPs, but to explore ways we can deliver technology to further support and empower them.

 

1. Implement AI-Powered Clinical Documentation

One effective way to support DSPs is by leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered documentation. By aligning technology with their unique workflow needs, DSPs can navigate their responsibilities more effectively, leading to better outcomes and reduced provider burnout.

 

3. Utilize Technology Built by Providers, for Providers

Investing in technology solutions developed by providers for providers ensures that tools are tailored to the specific needs of DSPs and the communities they serve. Such technology understands the nuances of workflows and aligns with the requirements of DSPs, leading to better adoption rates and more meaningful support.

 

4. Incorporate Augmented Assessments

Augmented assessments, like those offered by Bells AI, can significantly enhance the way DSPs interact with individuals and their stakeholders. These tools provide real-time suggestions on which questions to ask, adapting based on individual responses.
