OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Jan. 10, 2023 — Netsmart announced that myUnity® for home care, hospice and palliative care is the first and only electronic health record (EHR) solution specifically designed for post-acute care to achieve 100% of the certification base criteria, earning the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC-Health IT) 2015 Edition Cures Update certification via Drummond Group LLC, an Authorized Certification Body (ACB).

In order to achieve the 21st Century Cures Update certification, Netsmart completed the new (g)(10) FHIR® API testing. The (g)(10) criteria facilitates greater interoperability and enables health information exchange (HIE) through real-time data exchange between providers, health plans and patients, and mandates the patients' right to access their data. By achieving the (g)(10) testing and the ONC Cures Update certification, Netsmart is able to empower providers and payers using the 2022 version of myUnity to coordinate care more effectively and efficiently, through new and enhanced standards and implementation specifications.

“Nearly a year ago, we became the first technology vendor to meet 100 percent of the base criteria for ONC Certification using 100 percent of our own solutions,” said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. “We believe it is imperative to invest in our ONC Certification so we can enable our post-acute care clients to meet government compliance and succeed in the evolving value-based care programs. Netsmart will continue to lead the way to empower our clients in this space.”

As new requirements and revisions for reimbursement models are developed within the post-acute care community, providers are needing not only a certified EHR platform but additional software capabilities that support the future of incentive-based payment programs. Currently, hospice and palliative care providers need certified technology to meet the requirements of value-based care and establish compliance with the Medicare Access and CHIPS Reauthorization Act (MACRA), specifically Medicare Incentive Payment System (MIPS). By leveraging myUnity, providers can run large-scale palliative programs, as well as other post-acute service lines, all on one platform, while meeting the current CMS interoperability regulations for new payment models.

“As a leader in both the interoperability and post-acute space, we are thrilled to be able to accelerate the certified technology capabilities of our myUnity platform,” said Dawn Iddings, SVP & Managing Director of Post-Acute at Netsmart. “By advancing our technology, we have been able to support clients’ growth strategies and ability to run their palliative care programs and do it while qualifying for the CMS reimbursement models. We look forward to working alongside our client partners to collaborate and innovate our enterprise platform with capabilities driving efficiencies and improved care.”

The Health IT Module listed is 2015 Cures Update Edition compliant and has been certified by an ONC-ACB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. This certification does not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
