Overland Park, Kan., March 30, 2017 – Netsmart, the largest healthcare IT provider to connect behavioral health and post-acute to the rest of healthcare, announced it is the first and currently, the only behavioral health electronic record (EHR) provider to achieve the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology 2015 Edition Health IT Module Certification. The Drummond Group LLC, an Authorized Certification Body (ACB) has tested the software for compliance with the requirements of the federal government’s program.

The myAvatar® solution, the EHR for behavioral health providers, met the requirements set forth by the Drummond Group LLC to become the first behavioral health EHR to receive this certification.

“Our ability to be agile and respond to rapid changes in the healthcare environment have allowed us to invest in solutions that will position us to meet regulations proposed for future requirements,” said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. “Our team has been working side-by-side with our clients for almost 50 years to understand their needs and create solutions for their challenges, which is why it’s vital that we innovate solutions that meet compliance requirements without delays.”

2017 is a critical year for organizations to realize the advantages of utilizing a certified EHR to help manage care quality. In alignment with MACRA/MIPS, quality indicators submitted by healthcare organizations in 2017 will impact payments in 2019.

The myAvatar EHR is specifically designed for organizations that provide behavioral healthcare and addiction treatment in community-based, residential and inpatient programs. It offers a robust set of features that support roles throughout the organization, from front desk staff and clinicians to billing administrators and executive management.

To earn the ONC certification, myAvatar was tested against applicable standards and certification criteria put forth by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Drummond certification proved that the software offers the functionality that enables eligible providers and hospitals to meet the technology requirements necessary to meet Meaningful Use requirements – one of the criteria necessary to qualify these organizations to receive payments under the ongoing EHR adoption program.
