OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Aug. 14, 2018 — Today Netsmart and myStrength announced a strategic partnership to extend the myStrength digital, evidence-based tools to Netsmart behavioral health clients by integrating the content into its electronic health record (EHR) platforms. As part of the partnership, Netsmart will also roll out the innovative self-care resources to its associates to help them manage and overcome challenges related to depression, anxiety, stress, substance use, chronic pain and sleep.

Depression and its associated conditions cost the U.S. approximately $210 billion a year and affect more than 50 million individuals. myStrength has created a mobile, digital resource that complements other forms of care, such as medication and working with a behavioral health professional, to provide support that is affordable and accessible.

“By providing individuals the tools to help manage their conditions combined with evidence-based practices they can use anytime and anywhere, we can make a tremendous impact on a person’s journey to recovery,” said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. “However, the appropriate behavioral health resources aren't always available when a person needs it. The content in the myStrength tool enables individuals to access resources to help them in the moment, no matter where they are. We are excited to offer the solution to all of our clients and roll it out to our associates.”

“myStrength allows our clients and staff ease of access to an abundance of resources on numerous topics. Our new clients benefit from these resources often before seeing a provider and excitedly share what they've learned about themselves or their symptoms,” said Vicky Mieseler, chief administrative officer at Ozark Center. “Being able to incorporate myStrength content with information from Netsmart, naturally gives our clients and staff the information they need in a format that seamlessly fits into their daily lives. This content has dramatically improved client outcomes when used in conjunction with treatment.”

“We are excited to collaborate with Netsmart by offering myStrength to both their associates and their clinical partnerships. Our mission is to make digital behavioral health services more accessible and this relationship will help us expand our platform in a significant way,” said Co-Founder and CEO of myStrength Scott Cousino. “myStrength provides accessible and effective solutions for managing behavioral health issues and consistently demonstrate high levels of consumer adoption, satisfaction, engagement and clinical improvement. Through this partnership we can offer a truly integrated solution for clinicians and consumers, extending the capabilities of both organizations.”

Since 2016 Netsmart has offered Mental Health First Aid training to its associates, with a goal to have 90 percent of its workforce certified. Netsmart has trained more than 800 individuals, including two associates who have been certified as instructors who will teach the course to others in the community. Netsmart was recently honored by the National Council for Behavioral Health for its work in MHFA with the Business Leadership Award.

“Mental health is just as important, if not more so, than physical health,” said Valentine. “MHFA and the myStrength tool is yet another way we can empower and educate our clients, associates and communities to work to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and substance use.”
