Back From #HIMSS18 - A Recap

By Netsmart

Last week, thousands of healthcare and IT professionals from across the globe convened in Las Vegas for the annual #HIMSS18 conference. Today on CareThreads, we feature some of our favorite highlights from the leading health information and technology conference.

Visitors to our Netsmart booth took advantage of meetings, demonstrations and learned more about how we are working to achieve whole-person care by connecting addiction treatment, behavioral health, care at home and senior living to the rest of healthcare.

HIMSS Interoperability Showcase attendees toured use cases that demonstrated the exchange of data to improve outcomes through interoperability. Individuals had the chance to engage and interact with various vendors and experts to discuss care coordination and interoperability. Our use cases focused on using interoperability to achieve value-based care and to help curb the nation’s opioid epidemic.

Our very own Scott Green and Matthew Arnheiter stopped by the American Well booth to talk more about our recent telehealth partnership.

The National Council for Behavioral Healthcare took time to share a real-life instance of working with providers across the state of New York to provide value-based care and reduce rehospitalization rates of individuals with serious mental illness.

WellPower’s Dr. Wes Williams stopped by The Sequoia Project’s booth where he gave a fantastic presentation about care collaboration across health networks made possible through information exchange, such as the Carequality framework.

As healthcare communities continue to integrate, there is tremendous potential for healthcare technology to create an environment of care that is truly comprehensive and focused on the whole person. Here’s to a great #HIMSS18 where there were lots of great opportunities to learn from one another! Looking forward to seeing you at #HIMSS19 in Orlando, Florida!
