SVP & Chief Information Officer, Kindred Healthcare
Charlie Wardrip is a member of Kindred Healthcare’s leadership team and is responsible for all information technology utilized by Kindred’s business units. He is responsible for the formulation of strategic goals and plans as well as the management, implementation and operations of all technologies. He is also responsible for Kindred’s program office that manages mergers, acquisitions, and the integration of businesses into Kindred’s organization, as well as assisting with the establishment of new business lines.
Mr. Wardrip joined Kindred Healthcare, then Vencor, in 1996 as Director of Technology, to help establish an agile and scalable infrastructure that could support the diversity and growth plans the Company had established. During this period Mr. Wardrip was instrumental in supporting the growth of the Company from annual revenues of $2 billion to $6B in 2013. Kindred Healthcare is the premier provider of quality post-acute care services with more than 76,000 employees and 2,000+ sites of service. During this growth Kindred Healthcare has also established a reputation of being a technology leader in this industry and recognized as one of the top 25 innovative healthcare companies by Information Week. Kindred Healthcare has also been recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of the most respected companies in healthcare.
Prior to joining Kindred Healthcare, Mr. Wardrip spent 18 years with Humana, Inc. in various technical and managerial roles. Early in his career he gained first-hand experience working in Humana’s hospitals. There he gained a great appreciation for clinical, financial, and operational procedures that have been beneficial as his career developed. After taking a position at Humana’s corporate office, he was involved in supporting the Company as they developed their insurance division and later its military subsidiary to specialize in military medical coverage.
Mr. Wardrip was born in Louisville, Ky. where he currently lives with his wife Nina. They enjoy traveling, sporting events, and spending time their three sons, Rene, Robert, and Richard as well as their three grandsons. Mr. Wardrip attended the University of Louisville, and continues to support the school.
