OVERLAND PARK, Kan., May 13, 2019—Netsmart welcomes more than 1,800 healthcare professionals from across the United States to attend CONNECTIONS2019 being held May 12-15 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The largest technology user conference for community care providers, CONNECTIONS2019 has attracted record-setting attendance for the 11th year in a row. With the theme Mission Possible, the conference highlights ways in which organizations can thrive as care and payment models rapidly change. The annual event unites healthcare providers across behavioral health, home care, hospice, senior living and social service settings, supporting the mission to improve the lives of others by connecting, collaborating and learning through sharing real-life experiences in a constantly evolving healthcare ecosystem.

More than 80 client speakers will share successes, best practices and experiences during the four-day event. Interactive deep dives, roundtables and open discussions provide the opportunity for true collaboration. Attendees can choose from more than 150 educational sessions covering everything providers need to make their mission possible - workflows and user experience, regulatory updates, billing and coding, population health management, connectivity, care integration, data and reporting and beyond.

“The community healthcare settings we serve, while diverse, share many things in common,” said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. “The unique care they deliver can be somewhat challenging as industry requirements and demands become more complex. Providers need to have the knowledge and tools at hand to manage care in an integrated, connected environment and do it efficiently. The CONNECTIONS conference brings care providers together for the opportunity to share valuable insight and ideas to achieve success as an organization but, most importantly, for the populations they serve.”

The education and networking event kicks off with an opening keynote address from Valentine, where he will highlight client and organization accomplishments over the last year, including a vision for the future state of technology and related services in healthcare. Netsmart-led sessions provide best practices and ‘how to’ guidance to help clients address topics identified via feedback from attendees. In addition, the majority of CONNECTIONS2019 sessions are presented by clients to share real-life examples to facilitate learning from peers in realistic scenarios.

The third annual Nursing Council provides nursing professionals with the opportunity to network and connect with their peers. This year’s council takes a more focused look on medication reconciliation and addiction management from a nursing perspective. A special session features Bryan Wempen, Netsmart associate and author of “Sober is Better – My Note to Self,” as he shares his own story of addiction and health recovery.

Training classes available pre and post-event give registered attendees the chance to dive deeper into methods to better optimize technology and operations. A session offering Mental Health First Aid training will also be available to equip individuals to help those experiencing a substance use or mental health crisis by delivering knowledge and skills needed to recognize, understand and react appropriately to signs and symptoms.

The CONNECTIONS2019 Executive Symposium offers C-level and other executive leadership the opportunity to engage and exchange ideas with their colleagues spanning various healthcare settings from across the country. Notable session topics focus on approaching value-based care, curbing the nation’s opioid crisis, data and analytics as well as recruitment and retention.
Attendees will have a chance to visit with Netsmart experts and partners to gain insight and understanding of ways their organization can maximize operations to improve care delivery. Those who visit the Solutionarium exhibit hall will be able to explore what options beyond a traditional EHR are available to optimize performance through enhanced user experience, expanded integration and connectivity, virtual care, revenue cycle management, robust data and analytics and much more.

“Healthcare is transforming at a pace we have not experienced previously,” said Valentine. “By coming together in settings like CONNECTIONS2019, we can all share experiences and grow forward. Clearly, we are all best positioned for success when we are working side-by-side and CONNECTIONS2019 is an ideal opportunity for us to create that type of alignment.”
