Dr. Ian Chuang provides medical leadership and perspective to the Netsmart team. His focus is on the development of innovative clinical solutions for behavioral and mental health clients in an environment of disruption, convergence and integrated care. He offers clinical and informatics strategy, process improvement and outcomes management and support for primary care and behavioral healthcare integration.

Prior to joining Netsmart, Ian served as senior vice president of health risk management for Lockton Benefit Group in Kansas City. He was also the clinical lead for care management, clinical decision support systems and data warehouses at CIGNA Corporation.

Ian has a background and experience in clinical practice, as a family physician before transitioning to healthcare IT (HIT) where he has held leadership positions at Cerner, TherapyEdge, Inc., Click4Care, McKessonHBOC.

He holds a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Toronto and a master’s degree in administrative medicine from University of Wisconsin. He is an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine. He has participated in many healthcare data standards organizations with the current one being the National Quality Forum Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC).
