Clinic Modules
A suite of optional modules that extend the Insight EHR to meet the unique needs of communicable disease clinics
Insight™ Communicable Disease Clinic modules go beyond the traditional EHR. Each area provides not
just clinical workflow, but also the ability to link and associate cases, contacts, and lab results, manage epidemiological investigations and produce
required reporting.
CONTACTS/PARTNERS
All Insight Communicable Disease modules manage contacts/partners. While the discrete data collected in the
contact/partner area is specific to each module, all three modules have similar, powerful contact management features.
All Communicable Disease modules can rapidly:
- Create a patient from an existing contact
- Create a contact from an existing patient
- Toggle between patient and contact records
- View any other patients this patient is related to as a contact
- View the contact, and see any other patient records this contact is related to as a contact
LABORATORY TESTS
Each Insight Communicable Disease module enables clinic staff to initiate lab orders and review results as a part of clinical workflow. STD and HIV modules support Labs and Stat labs. TB module supports Labs.
STD
Insight provides a complete, highly-secure solution for STD case management. While access to the STD module is restricted to specifically authorized users, clinic staff has access to relevant clinical information recorded during intake or in other clinics, including the patient's existing problem list, medications, TB skin tests and allergies. Clinical workflow includes symptom identification, relevant medical history, gender-specific risk assessment and physical exams, HIV testing, lab work, diagnosis, treatment, clinical documentation/notes and contact management. For health departments that bill for STD services, STD clinic visits can create secure, billable claims.
STD Event Management provides Disease Investigation/Intervention Specialists with the tools to identify cases using lab reports and clinic encounters. DIS staff can view laboratory data generated by the clinics, and use STD events to associate and relate multiple STD cases and contacts. Once identified, Insight can track the progress of the epidemiological investigation, staff and activities involved, and provide morbidity/case reporting from lab results, field reports
and interviews.
HIV/AIDS
Created specifically for HIV/AIDS clinics, this module offers many of the same capabilities as the STD module; however data files are not shared with STD. Only specifically authorized users may view the HIV module and HIV encounters. The HIV module uses demographic data but, to protect patient privacy, it does not create an admission record or feed into the Encounter module (instead it has its own internal encounter system). Separate reports can be created just for the
HIV/AIDS clinic. The HIV/AIDS module captures intake, counseling, lab tests, exam and diagnoses, referrals, treatment and contact
tracking data.
The module's Ryan White Extract tracks the status, visit and services-provided information for patients eligible for the Ryan White program. This module creates the RSR Client Data Report in an XML format for submission to the National Ryan White program.
TUBERCULOSIS
Insight provides a complete solution for the Tuberculosis clinic. The TB module securely captures all TB Clinic data, including initiation and classification of the case, each visit and exam, skin tests, X-rays and labs and eventual case disposition. Clinics can readily manage DOT. Once a TB medication regimen is selected, Insight will schedule and track pickups/DOT for the duration, schedule and location specified. DOT staff can record the actual result of each delivery attempt. If the medication regimen is changed, Insight can (optionally) remove all future pickups of the old medication and create pickups for the
new medication.
The TB module supports contact investigation, treatment and management, and also coordinates printing of the CDC Verified and
Follow-up Tuberculosis Case Reports.
