Insight version 4

Insight Version 4, from Netsmart Technologies, included new features and capabilities.

System-wide

  • New Export utility. Provides power and flexibility in moving data from Insight to files for external agencies and other uses.
  • Centralized error reporting. All error messages, whether system or application, are now logged to the database. The system administrator can view error messages for problem resolution and training purposes. Errors may be viewed by type, form, user or date. With a single click, an error message may be e-mailed to Netsmart for analysis.
  • Tri-state checkboxes now show "?" for null values rather than a gray checkmark.
  • Search and filter large drop-down boxes
  • Obsolete flag for code tables. This prevents use of old values but retains them in the database for interpretation of old data.
  • Inactivity Timeout. The system administrator can set an inactivity time. If Insight is not used within that time limit, it automatically shuts down. This adds to system security and HIPAA compliance.
  • Procedure name searches on the Charge Maintenance screen.
  • Improved consistency in look and feel throughout the online system.
  • Group Based Security. It is now easier to set security for a new user by assigning them to a security group, or setting their security to be like someone else's. Special authorizations for an individual can be added on top of their group security.
  • License usage tool. This tool allows the system administrator to identify and count all current Insight users.
  • New "Erase" function will set a checkbox back to its null state. This is a pop-up menu option.
  • Reduced number of database connections. This improvement uses less server memory.
  • Single-file installation. The end-user installation procedure for previous versions of Insight involved several files. Now only one file is necessary. This simplifies distribution of new releases.
  • Supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
  • HIPAA Consent and Authorization tracking.
  • Patient Record access logging.Each access to a patient's records online is logged with who, what and when.

Patient Registration

  • New Caregiver tab has been added to Patient Registration. This panel of information accepts demographic information on both a primary and secondary caregiver.
  • GIS Interface. Insight now automatically parses patient addresses into address components for easy interface to GIS systems. It can also look up census tracts, latitude/longitude and other geographic information from an integrated GIS database and store them in the patient's record.
  • Address history. Insight now automatically maintains a history of former addresses, available in a list for your review.
  • Photo ID. You can enhance patient searches by adding images to your Insight database. When you search, photos appear in the list alongside date of birth, SSN and other identifying features. You can also pop up a patient's image on other patient-oriented screens in the system.
  • Program-based financial data. It is now possible to capture separate income and family size data for each program. This supplements the previous program-based sliding scale tables.
  • Patient Name fields longer. Last name is now 25 characters and first name 20.
  • Store HIPAA and other consent. A comprehensive consent recording feature has been added. Consent types, dates and revocations are stored and available historically. Consent types are stored in a table that you can maintain.
  • Face Sheet.View and print formatted summary patient information combined from several Insight screens.
  • New fields on Registration. Homeless Flag, Proficient in English and Seasonal Farmworker.
  • Improved Deduplication. The Insight Deduplication report now runs faster and provides more thorough and accurate output.

Appointment Scheduling

  • Navigation to and within the appointment system has been improved. It is now possible to go directly to the Patient's appointment from most screens in Insight using a speed button or a hot key. Menu choices also make fast access to the other appointment screens possible.
  • Facility Volume online chart. An online chart showing the level of clinic activity by time of day is available. This chart shows facility wide the number of patients scheduled for all clinics in the facility. This information is useful for staffing and facility planning.
  • The calendar components in the Appointment system have been replaced with drop-down calendars, freeing up more space for listing patients in the grids on the forms. These calendars have advanced features for date entry including the ability to enter phrases like "Yesterday" and "Today + 180".
  • User-defined default end date for appointment searches. This was asked for by our users. Instead of a fixed number of days in the future, the system administrator can set the number of days to conform to your agency's practice.
  • Patient Appointment form now shows Clinic name in the grid.

Immunizations

  • Added support for PPD results and other observations made in the immunization clinic.
  • Additional security now required to print an immunization certificate.
  • For Immunization Encounter, full editing of payer and insurance company code.
  • Support for 2001 ACIP schedule. Includes new Minimum to Count and Recommended Age data items.
  • Four day Grace Period built in when assessing historical immunizations.
  • Export utility for Texas State ImmTrak registry.

Medical Records

  • New Notes module.
  • Vital Signs with Growth Charts.
  • Automatic calculation of Body Mass Index.
  • Stores Head Circumference.

Reporting

  • Report Center. The Insight Report center provides a central method of running and scheduling reports. The Report Center implements full Insight security. It allows the creation and saving of parameter sets so you can set up a report and run it the same way again without re-entering all the date ranges and other options.
  • New More Powerful Ad Hoc Reporting tool. The Insight Report Builder is a powerful tool for creating reports. In addition to traditional reports, it can easily create cross tabulations and reports with graphs and charts. For advanced users, it adds the ability to include Pascal-like scripting. Reports may even be saved as Excel spreadsheets, Adobe PDF documents or HTML Web pages. The award-winning Report Builder is licensed by Netsmart from Digital Metaphors. Report Builder works with the Insight Report Center.

Epidemiology

  • New Module. Epidemiology supports entry of disease control information. Registration of patients is not required.

Lab

  • Navigation within the Lab module has been improved. The Lab speed button now goes directly to the Patient's Lab results. Lab Entry has been moved to the new Tasks menu.

Chart Tracking

  • New Module. Chart Tracking provides the ability to locate a patient's chart quickly and to track the chain of ownership. Chart Tracking data will aid HIPAA compliance by tracking chart access and responsibility. Chart Tracking is integrated with the Insight Appointment module.
