Overview
Insight is a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) product that supports a wide variety of public health programs, including immunizations, adult health, family planning, STD, tuberculosis, lab, records and case management, appointment scheduling, electronic medical records, and HIPAA-compliant patient billing. Customers purchase only the modules they need, and all are fully integrated. Insight is built upon an open SQL database, and offers an easy-to-learn, easy-to-use, easy-to-query integrated solution for program-specific needs.

Since Insight is an integrated package, its architecture, screen design, database and deployment options are the same for all functional areas. With hundreds of user-defined data validation code tables, Insight offers a flexible Commercial Off-The-Shelf Software (COTS) approach with a health department’s personal touch.   • Patient Registration This module covers Patient Search and Identification, Demographic Data, Geographic Coding, Alerts, Admissions, Financial and Insurance Information, Confidential Status, Consent, HIPAA Disclosure, Family Relationships, Associated Parties, Deduplication and Record Merging. 
  • Appointment Scheduling This simple and efficient scheduling system makes it easy to maintain appointment time slots, schedule patients and administer clinics.
  • Encounter Processing – All programmatic and service data in Insight revolve around a common Encounter form; service data is entered on the Encounter form that automatically interfaces with billing.
  • Patient Accounts and Third-party Billing – Fully integrated with the Patient Encounter to reduce data entry and improve cash flow.
  • Immunization Tracking and Inventory – A complete solution for the Immunization Clinic is available in an intuitive, self-contained design.
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) – Fully integrated with clinic operations support and billing. Includes Medications, Vital Signs (charts and graphs), Medical Notes and EMR Dashboard.
  • Laboratory Results Tracking Supports standard code sets and vocabularies, including CPT and LOINC. Abnormal results can automatically alert the Patient Tracking module.
  • Chart Tracking A complete audit trail of who checked out the paper chart and where it currently resides.
  • Family Planning - Title X – This region-specific module captures all the information to complete Family Planning History, Visit and region-specific Title X reporting.
  • Alcohol and Drug Abuse – A complete Admission and Discharge system is available for Alcohol and Drug Abuse treatment programs.
  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases/HIV This module pulls together many areas of the medical record to provide an STD-centric view. It uses demographic data from Patient Registration, but to maintain confidentiality does not create an admission record.
  • HIV – A separate HIV management tool is available to use specifically for HIV programs.
  • Tuberculosis A complete solution for TB management. Uses demographic data from Patient Registration, but to maintain confidentiality does not create an admission record.
  • Case Management A key part of Family Support Services is the coordination of services from community resources. Through Case Management, these resources can be identified; Eligibility and Authorizations can be documented.
  • Referral Workflow An alternative approach for large health departments to process internal and external referrals.
  • Managed Care A complete solution for health departments that pay external providers for services. Includes eligibility, treatment authorization, vendor registration, contracts, claim payment and tracking.
  • Epidemiology – Captures complete disease outbreak information for submission to CDC over PHIN, follow-up investigation and analysis.
  • Patient Tracking Provides tickler lists of patients with specific problems and needs, as well as timed correspondence and follow-up lists.
  • Event Management System – A means to plan, prepare, execute, and determine effectiveness for in-house and community activities, such as health education and fairs.
  • Time and Effort – Provides a way to enter and track activities, and for management to query this information.
  • Supplies Inventory – Materials receipt, inventory transactions, and an automated interface to procedures. Users can organize, manage and track inventory, and generate automated re-order triggers.
  • Pharmacy – Manages the daily operations of the health department’s in-house pharmacy. Key features include inventory management, drug-to-drug interaction screening, patient education leaflets, prescription recording and refills, label printing and billing linked to patient accounts.
  • Laboratory Information Management System – Manages the daily operations of the health department’s in-house laboratory.
  • Provider Charting A software implementation of the Omaha System; designed for use by public health and home care communities
