BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Professional is a flexible, scalable Business Intelligence platform that is integrated with Avatar and offers an alternative to Crystal Reports for analyzing and sharing information
Overview
The BusinessObjects XI platform is business intelligence (BI) tool that ensures every person connected within an organization has trusted, immediate access to the business information they need to do their jobs—just as easily as they have access to e-mail or the Internet.
BusinessObjects is integrated with Avatar to provide an alternative to Crystal Reports for organizations that have significant reporting and business intelligence needs. The benefits of using the Business Objects platform include:
- Reports are generated on the BusinessObjects server and can be displayed to the user as an HTML page and accessed with only a Web browser
- Data is sent in an encrypted form to eliminate the need for and cost of a VPN connection for every user viewing the reports
- Reports can be scheduled to run once, at off-peak times, and then distributed as HTML to multiple people, which results in faster performance
- Business Objects integrates with an LDAP system (e.g. Active Directory) so reporting rights can be set up once (e.g. view only, create report) greatly reducing administrative time
BusinessObjects can also work with the other enterprise applications within an organization to provide one BI standard. Standardizing BI tools enables a lower total cost of ownership by having a single reporting and BI platform for users inside and outside of the organization.
BusinessObjects is designed for scalability, reliability, fault-tolerance, extensibility, and high availability. Organizations can start with a single BI project, and easily grow to support an enterprise-wide standardization initiative on multiple platforms.
In addition to the powerful BI and reporting capabilities, BusinessObjects Professional edition also includes:
- Auditing to enable administrators to use a set of reports and a sample audit universe to monitor, analyze, and optimize the BusinessObjects Enterprise platform.
- BI Content Search enables information search from within the BusinessObjects InfoView portal. The indexed content includes existing reports, metrics, and universe-based metadata.
