The officers of Netsmart and its subsidiaries realize the vital role they play in representing the interests of our shareholders.
James L. Conway
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Conway is responsible for setting Netsmart’s vision and strategy, assuring the accomplishment of business objectives, securing resources for growth, and working
with the executive management team to support Netsmart’s mission and vision.
He joined Netsmart in 1996, bringing to the company an extensive background in
finance and operations. Mr. Conway spent a majority of his career in senior
management positions at ITT, serving as vice president and director of several subsidiaries that created strategic financial support for the marketing of new
products and services. While at ITT, he helped grow the finance subsidiary’s total
assets from $300 million to more than $1 billion.
Mr. Conway serves on the board of directors of LISTnet, a Long Island-based organization dedicated to achieving excellence for software and technology
solutions. He is also a member of the CEO Roundtable of Long Island.
He received an MBA from New York Institute of Technology.
James Gargiulo
Executive Vice President, Clients and Solutions
Mr. Gargiulo has executive management responsibility for sales, and works with
product management, solutions delivery, and other Netsmart groups to assure that Netsmart’s products and services meet client requirements. His involvement spans
client relationships in community and public health, state systems, and inpatient and outpatient behavioral healthcare.
Mr. Gargiulo joined Netsmart in 1984 after managing a large county mental health
and drug/alcohol county system. He also has previous experience as a counselor/
advocate for the developmentally disabled, and a consultant performing research
on several aspects of psychiatric illness for the Commonwealth of Pennsyslvania.
Mr. Gargiulo received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania,
and Master of Science degree from the graduate school of the Hahnemann
Medical College.
Anthony Grisanti
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Grisanti is responsible for Netsmart’s financial, budgeting and cash management processes and human resources. He also oversees preparation and filing of the company’s financial statements, and provision of company performance and
financial information to analysts and the investment community.
Mr. Grisanti also assists the company’s executive committee with development of business objectives, acquisition strategy and in new business opportunities.
Prior to joining Netsmart in 1994, Mr. Grisanti worked as a CPA for several
accounting firms and served for 18 years as treasurer of Advanced Computer Techniques Corporation.
Mr. Grisanti received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration with
a major in public accounting from Pace University.
Joseph McGovern
Executive Vice President, Strategic Initiatives
Mr. McGovern is responsible for contracts management, solutions delivery,
Netsmart University, Netsmart’s e-Prescription division and the company’s Premier
Partner program.
Mr. McGovern joined Netsmart in 1981 and has held numerous management
positions, including project management and implementation, software development, support services, quality control, training and documentation.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University
of Connecticut.
Kevin Scalia
Executive Vice President, Corporate Development
Mr. Scalia’s responsibilities include strategic relationships and new business opportunities, investor relations, marketing and developing alliances with key
industry associations.
Prior to joining Netsmart in 2003, he served as president or chief executive officer
of technology companies involved in the development of supercomputers, medical
imaging equipment and database applications.
Mr. Scalia received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and a Master of Science degree in systems engineering from Polytechnic University.
Alan Tillinghast
Executive Vice President, Operations
Mr. Tillinghast is responsible for global product development, product management,
project management, customer support and operations.
He worked for several years for Netsmart in various technical positions before
moving to St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center for eight years, where as the
CIO he managed hardware, software and implementation for that organization’s
large behavioral healthcare delivery network. He rejoined Netsmart in 1999.
Mr. Tillinghast received a Bachelor of Science degree in healthcare administration
and an MBA in information technology from Iona College.
