The five emerging trends include: consumer-directed healthcare, increased accountability, changing demographics and attitudes, new clinical delivery models and personalized medicine. Two common threads within these trends are that consumers are taking more control of their own healthcare and the role of clinicians is expanding beyond just care provider to coordinator of care.
