Netsmart Commemorates 50th Anniversary of Community Mental Health Act
Landmark Legislation Set Foundation that Drives Netsmart to Advocate for Improved Care and Enlightened Awareness for Those Living with Mental Health Issues
Las Vegas, Nev., April 8, 2013 – Netsmart, the leading provider of clinical solutions for health and human services organizations nationwide, will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Community Mental Health Act of 1963 (CMHA) as part of its presence at the 2013 National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare Conference, held April 8-10 in Las Vegas, Nev.
The Community Mental Health Act ushered in deinstitutionalization by providing federal funding for community mental health centers in the U.S. This critical legislation was passed as part of President John F. Kennedy's “New Frontier” and shaped the last 50 years of American history.
